Internship Program
The purpose of Dirt’s internship is to cultivate skills in neurodiverse teens and adults to set them up for success in a future career of their choice utilizing an individualized and strength-based approach.
Dirt’s internships are 3-months and perfect for neurodiverse teens and adults who have little to no successful job experience. Every intern is paid a competitive hourly wage as they work one-on-one with an experienced job coach to learn what it means to have a job and earn a paycheck.
Interns spend their first month exploring all of the different opportunities at Dirt. This includes working the cash register, espresso machine, food preparation and stocking. By their second month, interns are expected to choose a position that meets their skill set and interest. For the next two months, each intern works on cultivating independence in their position while working with their coach.
All interns graduate from the program after 3-months and are provided with an in-depth report of their experience including recommended next steps in reaching employment goals. After 3-months, qualified interns will have the opportunity to continue working at Dirt for up to 12-months while they partner with a job coach to complete a resume, apply and interview for careers outside of Dirt in their area of interest.
